Silver Laughter 1975 – Kim, Mick, Mark and Jon in front
[Note: Kim brought early photos which included members Steve Elliott, Denny Walton and John Carstensen, but the JPG copies in my possession were not of high enough quality to reproduce.]
Besides the programs, banners and t-shirts that IRRMA was selling to promote the event, Kim and I brought along some of our stuff to give away. Both of us had reproductions of past promotional photos. There were also stacks of “Handle With Care” and “Sailing On Fantasies” albums available in CD format.
Silver Laughter 1976 – Jon, Ken, Mick and Paul
For the event I had copies of 3 different Silver Laughter publicity pictures which showed the band in the various stages we went through during the 5 years I was with the band. The first was a color shot with Jon, Kim, Mark and myself which was taken by Jon and Kim’s dad, John, in the living room of their farm house. It is one of the first publicity photos we used. Although this one has been posted before, I was asked by a friend to show which photos were in the stacks on the table during the autograph session.
Next I had one reproduced which had been taken after Mark and Kim had left the band and were replaced by Ken and Paul. This is the version of the photo that graces the back cover of our first album, “Handle With Care”. If you look closely, the photo is already autographed by the boys. It was reproduced from one of the pictures my mom kept in her stuff.

The third photo is one of the last taken of the band in 1979 when Kim returned to replace Paul. It also was taken at the Ludtke home, but this time we were in the basement. Of all the poses, it is one of my favorites. But we didn’t stay together long enough to have the contact information added at the bottom. So Janis sat in our Okoboji hotel room and wrote Silver Laughter across the top with a black Sharpie!
