Song In My Heart
(Orton-Kelley & Bedford-Pugh)

You know I got up this morning and without warning,
Woke up with a song in my heart.
I don’t know how it got into my head.

A happy tune came with no forewarning,
A great way for my day to start.
Gave me some idea of the day ahead.

I don’t feel so lonely, when I’m by  myself.
My song keeps me company.

Then at noon, I had to assume that,
It was not a typical day.
Sun was out and feeling like summertime.

I walk cheerfully, my steps keep up the beat.
I know everything is fine.

Can’t help thinking good things,
And the joy that they bring,
Happy that there’s now a song in my heart.

SOLO VERSE:

I don’t feel so lonely, when I’m by  myself.
My song keeps me company.

Now it’s evening, time to be leaving,
Started whistling as it got dark.
A happy melody keeps me company,

Smiling as I’m walking, getting close to you.
My heart’s singing can’t you see?

Can’t help thinking good things,
And the joy that they bring,
Happy that there’s now a song in my heart.

It’s time for bed, the song’s left my head and,
Now I’m finally closing my eyes.
Tomorrow there’s time to make a brand new start.

I have no remorse ‘cause it’s my plan, of course,
Then I’ll have a song in my heart.
