NEW MUSIC! Lyrics to “Good Friends”

Another Double Shot outtake of Ken and Mick

Another Double Shot outtake of Ken and Mick

This song was one of the first that Ken and I collaborated on after arriving in California. I think we wrote it in my sister Marjie’s place which was a converted garage in Pt. Reyes Station. Ken and I sponged off her for a few weeks (or was it months?). These lyrics are as complete as I could recollect with Ken’s help. After I post this, I am sure he will send me a note telling me what I need to change!

I have a video of Ken playing the chords with his son Steven poking his head in the frame, and I can’t quite match up the ending with the lyrics here. It was a spiffy finish too! But I just bought a new microphone and some sound editing software so I am hoping to put the words and music together to post on this site very soon.

Good Friends
(Wiles-Orton)

I don’t see why you and me don’t get to be good friends,
Even though we disagree and argue now and then.

Though we don’t see eye to eye, what difference does it make?
No two people think alike, you’ve got to give and take.

It’s all right… all right.
I don’t see why you and me can’t get to be good friends.

Friends are often hard to keep and harder yet to find,
If you meet one, a complete one, then you’ll realize.

It’s all right… all right.
I don’t see why you and me don’t get to be good friends.

Chorus:
Good….. Friends….
Good…. Friends….
Ah….. I don’t see why you and me don’t get to be good friends!

Everybody needs someone to turn to when they’re low.
Though you’d rather turn and run, I thought I’d let you know.

It’s all right… all right.
I don’t see why you and me can’t get to be good friends.

Chorus:
Good….. Friends….
Good…. Friends….
Ah…..
