One of our Silver Laughter followers writes a blog called “Bite Size Canada” and publishes little bits and pieces about Canada’s history. Today’s post reminded me of a day off we had in 1977 between the two weeks we were performing at the Tradewinds in Calgary, Alberta.
From what I remember, we drove miles into the mountains (which reminded me a lot of the drive west out of Denver into the Rockies) to Banff and Lake Louise. The lake was covered in low clouds or fog and was very eerie. It was so much so that I had just finished reading the Tolkien Trilogy, “Lord of the Rings”, and thought this would be the perfect place to film the Golum scenes! Add to that Led Zeppelin’s “Misty Mountain Hop” playing in the background (this album was inspired by the “Lord of the Rings”), and it was a very memorable experience for me.
