Another Contract for The Showboat Ballroom – Marshall, MN

This was after we left Art and started managing ourselves... not such a bright decision in hindsight.

We are Marshall? If you look at this contract from 1979, you can see that we were guaranteed $500 (almost $1,600 in 2013) or 50% of the door. At $2.50 a person, it doesn’t sound like much. but we used to pack our one nighters!

We would get people that were regulars at all of our performances from Worthington, New Ulm, Austin, Mankato and many other Minnesota cities as well as Brookings and Mitchell, South Dakota. I don’t recall exactly how much we made for these one night jobs, but I am sure it was much better than the guarantee. It seemed people never tired of hearing us play as is witnessed by the booking calendars I have posted for 1978.
