“Having A Good Time” From The “Mosaic” EP Gets A Great Review

Note: Read the review on Jango HERE.

This song was written by Mick and Dain in the vein of Talking Heads or The Cars. Mick sings lead, Dain sparkles on all the guitars and Carl provides a solid, driving beat!

Overall Impression:
The Silvers return with yet another fist-pumping, deliciously crunchy slice of alternative-edged classic rock that effectively encompasses all of the quintessential elements that help give them their particularly distinct sound. Between the driving rhythms, upbeat lyrics, engaging performances, and undeniably tasty guitar work, “Having A Good Time” provides its listeners with both a lively and terrifically fun rock experience that is a clear testament to the magic that unfurls when a group of like-minded musicians comes together to make music, and whether you find yourself to be a rock lover or not, there’s simply no denying the power that the genre has and it’s bands such as The Silvers that help to ensure the genre is still alive and kicking, and for that reason alone I find myself compelled to tip my hat to them.

Strongest Point(s):
Opening with momentum-creating rhythm guitar, “Having A Good Time” quickly establishes its sense of pace and tone, setting the stage effectively for the introduction of the vocals. The vocals are both stylistically fitting for the genre and boast that essential air of energy needed in order to really get those lyrics jumping out at the listener. The way the arrangement has been crafted is particularly effective and the way in which the various elements of the instrumentation are introduced over time helps give each part that bit more room to breathe. I also appreciate the slight rawness to the overall production and mix, it not only gives the track a live feel that helps to heighten the song’s sense of energy, but it allows the music and performances to feel that bit more organic. All too often a rock track can very easily be overproduced to its detriment, resulting in a loss of both character and identity yet “Having A Good Time” adopts a more natural feel with regard to its overall sonic aesthetic.

Target Audience Appeal:
“Having A Good Time” serves as a brilliant combination of classic and alternative rock styles and I can certainly see it strongly resonating with fans of the genre.

Artist target suggestions:
R.E.M., Counting Crows, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, The Doors, Steve Miller Band, George Harrison, Mudcrutch, Little Feat
