Lyrics to “Looking Back” by The Silvers from the RUSHMORE Album

Looking Back
(Orton-Kelley-Youngs)

When I reminisce about the things that we have done,
Learning to play music; skipping school.
Instead of doing homework,
We tried to write some songs.
Looking back, we thought we were so cool.

When I reminisce, about the places we have been,
On the road for most of our young years.
Didn’t make much money,
But had a real good time.
Looking back, it’s music to our ears.

When we chose that way of life,
It was our big dream,
Getting to play music every day.
Wrote songs for a record,
That got on the air.
We thought it would get played everywhere.

When I reminisce about the people we have met,
They all danced to music that we made,
Traveling ‘cross country,
Always on the run.
Looking back, we’re longing for those days.

Solo:

When we chose that way of life,
It was our big dream,
Getting to play music every day.
Wrote songs for a record,
That got on the air.
We thought it would get played everywhere.

When I reminisce about the time that has flown by.
Seems like it was just the other day.
Yes, we’ll keep on dreaming.
Thinking ‘bout those days,
Memories we hope won’t fade away. (x3)
