Okay, where was I? Oh, yes, we started the month by finishing up a week at the Kongo Club in Mitchell, SD on Saturday the 1st, then took two days off before starting a week at the Viking Bar… where else? Minnesota… Crookston to be exact. Ya, you betcha!
We must have packed up that night in order to start a two day job on Sunday the 9th at Doc Holliday’s in Shakopee, MN just outside Minneapolis. I believe this is when we met Ruby Starr and opened for her. By 1978 Glenn was traveling with us, and he posted a story recounting meeting her, so I am pretty sure this was when it happened.
The following three days were off before playing one night at Drake University in Des Moines, IA then the next night at The Sundance Palace in Audubon, IA (we must have been successful in our February visit that we were asked to return!).
Sunday was a day off before starting a week (6 nights) at Thor’s Side Door in Albert Lea, MN. Then another Sunday off before performing a week at the Buccaneer Club in Willmar, MN where we had started off the year. We finished there on a Saturday night before playing Sunday night at The Iron Horse in Minneapolis, MN.
