“I Can’t Believe In You”

This is still one of the band favorites. I’ve been told it could have come right from the Beatles “Rubber Soul” album. I don’t know about that, but I do know that Jon and I worked a long time on the lyrics for this song. However, it seems to me we arranged it as a group, quite possibly during a rehearsal on the afternoon before one of our evening performances. Ken was having trouble coming up with something for the lead-in, and we suggested the twangy open string run up that you now hear as the intro to the cut. Musicians on this recording are Jon, Paul, Ken and me. There was a lot of double-tracking but no other instruments to speak of so it was easy to perform live.
