At the end of 1979 when we were winding down, we did some of our best cover songs. By reaching out past the Beatles and learning tunes by The Cars, Tom Petty, The Ramones, Fleetwood Mac and even Kiss, we expanded our horizons to the point that our third album would have probably been something really different.
Though Paul was with the band while we developed this new direction, Kim had decided to come back. The Beatles Tribute was about to be left behind as we really wanted to generate a new sound and image to take us to the next level. Looking back, I am torn. I still think there is room for Beatles-type music. It’s just not so prevalent these days.
The last photo I have of Silver Laughter which was taken in the basement of the Ludtke house at the farm had to be shortly after the photos Art took of us in Des Moines. Some of the clothes are even the same in both. Jon and I have the same shirts on.
