I have recounted the work Jon and I did on the lyrics of this song in other places on our website. Jon, Kim and I had a telephone conversation last night and agreed that lyrically it is one of our better songs. However, if we were able to do a remix I think we would work harder to give it a bit more of a steady groove. This is where a talented producer would come in handy!
As it is, it is a fine song with foreboding overtones. Bob Parker’s horns are very well placed. Overall, it has been one of my favorite Silver Laughter songs… but I seem to say that about all of them! The lineup on the recording is Jon on lead, Ken on guitar, Paul on drums and bongos and me on bass and lead vocal.
The photo comes from the 1977 session we did in Carroll, Iowa at The County Seat, probably before going on stage to play. Art Stenstrom, our manager, took the picture.
