(Updated 12/22/15 – The Silvers will record this song and put it on our album, “After The Laughter”.)
(Updated 9/3/13 in Bold and Italics. The Ken who says he doesn’t remember much from those days corrected my memory!)
So far I have not made it into the studio, though I have been working on getting the instruments together (as well as my golf game). Here is another one of the songs Ken and I wrote after Double Shot moved to California. This also was performed live by my three piece New Wave band, The Balls (later the Secrets). – Mick Orton
Mr. Kool
(Wiles-Orton)
With my crew cut haircut and my wingtip shoes on,
I didn’t date no girls ’cause they thought I was a loser.
And I’d stutter every time I tried to tell the things I thought that I knew,
So the teachers tried to get me kicked out of high school.
Refrain: But now, but now, but now… I am Mr. Kool!
I was out of style but now I’m in with the movement,
Cause I look so good there’s no room for improvement.
And I get a lot of girls, but you ought to see what they all look like.
But I get more than you so I guess it’s all right.
Refrain: Cause now, but now, but now… I am Mr. Kool!
Instrumental break:
I am Mr. Kool!
Well, I ‘m still in fashion, and it’s hardly a mystery.
Cause it is easier when you are living in the sixties.
It’s a little bit confusing knowing when your being in and dated (inundated).
If I keep it straight I will always make out.
Refrain: But now, but now, but now… I am Mr. Kool!
Instrumental break: (pause)
I am Mr. Kool!
