Although I didn’t appear on the “Through You” album, I was a fan of this song which was one side of a single in the late ’60’s while I was still in high school.
Dave and Paul graduated a year ahead of me from West High School in Davenport, Iowa. Dave went on to study engineering at Iowa State while still playing in the band. Craig was a 1967 graduate of Bettendorf High School in Davenport. Imagine my surprise when this already “famous” band called me up for an audition when their bass player, Larry Smith, decided to leave.
This is one of my favorite songs that was added to the album when Craig did a re-release of “Through You” on CD. I’m sure we played it live at Al’s Lounge, my first steady gig with The Contents Are:. It is very much like what the Zombies and Beau Brummels were doing in the late 1960’s.
