Happy birthday, and congratulations on keeping ‘most of your hair’! (December 28).
By the way, Steve Elliott still plays also, and in fact is probably the only Silver Laughter member that has continuously played in a working band. I usually get to sit in with him when I’m back in Davenport.
The band I’ve played in down here for the past 23 years (as a drummer) is called Trapdoor. Attached photo was at the Hard Rock Casino south of Albuquerque. We used to play several times a month and had a big following, but it’s really dropped off the past few years.
Don’t know if you knew this, but Steve and I went to school together, similar to you and Jon. And I’m not sure who is posting this around on various websites (you may have seen this), but the name Silver Laughter did not come from Steve wearing braces – it comes from Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass – there’s a poem at the beginning of the book about the Cheshire cat.
Perhaps you could mention this on your site…, so it would be nice to try to straighten that out. – Kim Ludtke
